Amarok2 Beta 2 Released
The team of Amarok, in a brief break from the frenetic marathon programming that lead to the final version, is really pleased to offer Nujalik, the beta 2 Amarok 2.0. This version shows a substantial list of news compared to the beta 1 and nearly all the components of Amarok have received attention from us. Many bugs and crashes have been fixed and some new functionality was introduced. Since Amarok 2.0 is close to the issue, we found a significant increase in contributions in the form of patches and bug reports. This has catapulted the pace of development at rates never seen before! Help us to improve Amarok 2.0 conducting tests, reporting bugs and helping with patches.
The most significant change in this version is the shift from a SQLite-embedded MySQL database engine. MySQL-embedded allows us to leverage sull'incremento performance of a MySQL configuration, preventing further non-trivial configurations that derives from a standalone server. In addition, we can use a standalone server MySQL in the future, if you will, although this is not yet possible. More distinctly, you will notice an increase in performance scanning of the collection and research, especially with very large music collections. Since there are technical complications inherent in the proper development of MySQL, we recommend you use a package of official distribution because we are working closely with the creators of packages to ensure the fewest problems. For information on how to build Amarok with MySQL-embedded, visit, edit and help to update our wiki page.
