Finally after more than 2 years of development and announced the launch of the final version of XFCE 4.6. This much anticipated update includes new developments such as a configuration manager, a new sound mixer, large improvements in the session manager, and other important changes in the rest of its major components.

In the visual tour Xfce 4.6 we can find some other news, some very welcome, such as:

The new Application Finder to quickly find and launch applications using only keywords:

Support user custom directories Thunar, such as Documents, Downloads, Music, Videos, etc.. It also supports encrypted devices.

The desktop configuration is much more compact and allows you to set preferences such as wallpaper, brightness, menus and icons for each monitor connected.

XFCE, which is my preferred environment for some years, is recognized for its ability to run a modern desktop hardware relatively modest and should be considered by all those seeking an alternative to GNOME without many compromises.
