Proposed timetable for openSUSE 11.2 and beyond
Although there are still "too many moving parts," was proposed with this message on their mailing list a tentative schedule for the upcoming launch of OpenSUSE 11.2. Starting with this new version the OpenSUSE project finally opted for a schedule of 8 months for each of the following versions.
This would leave things as follows:
November 2009: OpenSUSE 11.2 "Fichte.
July 2010: OpenSUSE 11.3 "Rousseau."
March 2011: openSUSE 12.0 "Voltaire."
November 2011: OpenSUSE 12.1 "Lessing."
(The numbering of the previous versions could change).
Postpone the launch until November OpenSUSE 11.2 also has its advantages, eg the inclusion of software such as KDE 4.3, GNOME 2.28 and Kernel 2.6.30 or later.
