New license for OpenSUSE 11.1

Just in time for the launch of Release Candidate 1 (RC1) of OpenSUSE 11.1 was changed the license under which it will launch its final version. Basically, the end of those days when your users must accept the terms of an EULA (license to use the software). Basically, the text of the new license that said:

  • There is no longer a EULA, but a notice of license for users to know their rights and are supplied by FOSS licenses without requiring an explicit agreement.
  • The work of OpenSUSE is covered under the GPL v2, with their individual packages covered under which they prefer.
  • The main DVD software now includes only that the project can circulate freely, and that in turn the user can also freely redistributed.

    The similarities with this new licensing and the Fedora Project are not coincidental: OpenSUSE was based specifically on its contents with the assistance of the leader of the project Paul Frields. "Mainly because they saw no point in reinventing the wheel," says the original listing .
