Pidgin 2.5.3 for Linux: Communicate with people who use Messenger or other messaging programs

If you're tired of the heaviness and the large amount of advertising Windows Live Messenger or not being able to talk to people using other messaging programs, why not try Pidgin?
Pidgin 2.5.3 (formerly known as Gaim) is a program to chat with people using different chat programs. That is, at a time can talk with people who use Windows Live Messenger, ICQ, Yahoo! IM client Jabber, Google Talk, and so on.
In terms of its functions, Pidgin allows the sending of files, has a warning of "your friend is writing ...", emoticons, notifications, different states and is able to run a program or change status depending on whether one of your contacts are connected.
A good program for not having to use more than one instant messaging client.
