Pidgin 2.6.3: Communicate with people using Messenger or other IM

Pidgin 2.6.3 is the new name of the multi-protocol Instant Messenger GAIM for Linux, BSD, MacOS X, and Windows. It supports the most popular time for services such as: AIM (Oscar and TOC protocols), ICQ, MSN Messenger, Yahoo, IRC, Jabber, Gadu-Gadu, and Zephyr. Changes can be read here.
If you're tired of the heaviness and the large amount of advertising or Windows Live Messenger can not talk with people using other messaging programs, why not try Pidgin 2.6.3?
Pidgin 2.6.3 (formerly Gaim) is a program to chat with people using different chat programs. That is, while you talk with people who use Windows Live Messenger, ICQ, Yahoo! IM client Jabber, Google Talk, etc..
As for their functions, Pidgin allows sending files, has a reminder of "your friend is typing ...", emoticons, notifications, different states and is able to run a program or change state depending on whether one of your contacts are connected.
Pidgin 2.6.3 is a good program for not having to use more than one IM client.
