OpenArena game for Ubuntu

One of the main reasons why young people complain of Ubuntu is the lack of videogames. But let me not be okay with that. First, as already demonstrated in the previous year, you can install the games for Windows with the help of Wine. Secondly there are video games created exclusively for Linux distributions. One of the most played OpenArena is a fps based on the graphics engine dell'arcinoto Quake 3 Arena (then a graphic not trendy but certainly pleasant and smooth) and that this allows the game online and fun to highest level! I note that in order to turn OpenArena you need support 3D acceleration.
Playbuntu is Playdeb
The new draft repository of games for Ubuntu announced as Playbuntu posted a message on his blog saying that change name to "Playdeb". The reason is that Canonical decided to implement its policy of trademark and denying permission and support for using the name "Playbuntu." Apparently this would be to avoid the confusion that users would have to believe that Playbuntu is another version of Ubuntu.
The good news is that an initial Beta Playdeb repository will be available from next September 1.
Download Free Universal Linux Launcher 0.7 for NCSoft Games

Universal Linux Launcher 0.7 (ULL) can currently handle: Auto Assault, Dungeon Runners (incl PTS), Tabula Rasa, Lineage, Lineage 2 (incl Test Server), City of Heroes (incl EU & Test), Guild Wars and Exteel. Not all these games work under wine but support exists for when they do.
NCSoft are the makers of quite a few MMORPGs, while most of them feature standalone patching NCSoft has started to use a universal launcher to take care of patching.
The NCSoft launcher relies on .NET 2.0 which wine can't handle well just now so a temporary solution is needed until wine and .NET 2.0 work well together. ULL is that solution, each of the supported games can be uniquely configure (including separate WINEPREFIXs).
D2X-XL 1.12.101

D2X-XL 1.12.101 is an OpenGL port of the classic 3D Shooter game Descent 2 for Win32, Linux and Mac OS X, containing many enhancements and bug fixes while preserving full backwards compatibility.
Although D2X-XL contains a lot of enhancements and new features, it is still fully backwards compatible to every other Descent 2 version and particularly to D2_Win98 and d2_3dfx (which constitute the reference for every other D2 version). As many fixes simply restore features of the original Descent 2 that were missing in D2X (like availability of all cockpit views, or working mouse steering), it is even closer to them than D2X itself. Keeping full backwards compatibility is my concern, and where I break it, it happens accidentally and will be fixed as soon as I notice it, or get notified of it.
